The Lake County Special Needs Birthday Club is asking for Halloween candy donations to support parties for special needs residents and seniors at Deepwood, Mentor Hills, Breckenridge Village, and Abbott's Manor.
Community members can drop off treats at Willow Praise Church in Willowick by Oct. 12.

Education
Mentor voters will decide on Nov. 3 if a new operating levy, adding a 3.5-mill tax to generate $9.6 million a year from 2027, should pass to help avoid deeper cuts in teaching, programs and services.
The levy, approved 4—1 by the school board, comes amid enrollment declines and deficits.
